The Camporee Report: AKA "Sinkhole 2008"

This year's Spring Camporee was very succesful for Troop 460.

Our own ALPHA patrol won first place as best overall patrol for the entire competition.

Torin, Giampiero, Gianmarco and Andrew put forth a tremendous amount of energy, skill and scout spirit to record 2 firsts, 3 seconds, and 1 third in the various competitions.

The NEUTRAL patrol took 2 seconds and a third place.

The SCRUBBY BUBBLES patrol took a first place in the log hoist.

In other news, Torin tied for the highest score in archery and Keegan recorded a perfect bullseye during the competition, one of only three scouts to do so.

Finally, the district announced that permission has been granted by EID to run water up to Scout Hill, and a ten year master plan is now in place to improve the site, where eventually there will be water at each campsite, toilets, showers and possibly a covered dining area.

Recognizing that we have a unique feature at our campsite - that being a small ( 2x4 ) foot mini-sinkhole - and knowing that it may someday disappear when the area is improved, we've decided to name this sinkhole after Mr. Rick Harr, our previous Scoutmaster. The reason we are doing this is because at the first camporee I attended, he stepped into that hole 3 separate times, one time rolling around in the pine needles before extricating himself. Here is to the Harr Sinkhold. Hear Hear! :-)

Other than that, we had a very nice time, campfire at our site, the scouts brought two guitars, the weather was PERFECT - NO RAIN!!!!! Woo hoo!
